The idea of embedding WiFi support in an SD card is a knockout, so why the 1 star review. In order to configure and use the card you must first validate the hardware with the eye.fi website. The problem is that the website (currently) isn't recognizing the hardware so you can't validate it.If you can't validate it then you can't configure it, if you can't configure it then you can't actually USE it.Checking their website I've found this complaint going back over a year, their solution is to send the card in for replacement. Instead, I'm returning mine and getting my money back. Here's a tip for Eye-Fi - The software needed to configure a device should be INCLUDED WITH THE DEVICE. If you want to do it through a web interface via some.php scripts, fine, but let the user do all that LOCALLY, not through your remote website WHICH DOES NOT WORK.
It worked fine at first. My Eye-Fi card is fantastic, although it doesn't always transfer every image off of my camera. I'm not sure why. Now it only grabs a few at a time. And if I mess with my camera in the process, I get errors.
I usually wait for months to download photos from the camera - but no longer. And so far it's been 100% reliable.Only downside is how quickly it kills the battery of my D60. Now my parents can see my kids photos up on the web a few minutes after I've taken them. This is a great little device. I have a spare, but then again because I know the photos will go somewhere I use the camera a lot more than before.I've already recommended this to lots of my friends. Haven't had a chance to use it away from home - so not sure how well the geotagging or hotspot functions work - which means that so far, for me, the home version would have been just as good.
Even with the issues as they stand, I still use the card because the convenience it adds is worth it.The tagging it does is very accurate. They even have support contacts on Twitter.
I love it enough that I continue to use it and encourage others to purchase it. The draw backs that I have are issues that I could probably resolve if I cared enough to try to resolve them.
I love this product, with reservations. Sometimes I have to power cycle the camera to get all of the photos to upload. That all being said, the support that the company provides is incredible.
The system works very well for uploading your photos to your computer, or to other photo services such as FLICKR, and many others. The issues I have is that sometimes I find my camera batteries dead after "not using the camera" for an extended period when this didn't happen previously.
The community is strong and I feel confident if I'd ask about these small issues I'd get them resolved. Everything the card is advertised to do, it does very well.
i have a gps system on my dslr and i thought i could make my expensive point & shoot gps enabled with this product.WRONG. but the huge problem i found is its usefulness. this product is well made. there are lots of better & cheaper ways to do what this does. to say it functions as a gps is a real stretch. what good is it out of a large town. once again i was misled. on a positive note:amazon has a great return system that i discovered
